Registration Directions

Directions for registering with Search Associates and submitting openings for your school. Please read carefully.

To register for any Search Associates Recruitment Fair and/or to list your school openings, you must complete the School Application, including the salary/benefit/vacancy survey form, and submit these on-line. Upon acceptance, we will confirm the username and password you have selected as part of the application process. This will allow you to:

  • Gain access to our online and fully searchable database of registered candidates.

  • List your school's vacancies, which will become part of the database available to our registered candidates.

Registration & Database-Use Fees

For schools which attend any one or more of the Search Associates Recruitment Fairs to be held during the (northern hemisphere) academic year, the fee for use of the Search Associates candidate database is included in the Recruitment Fair registration fee.

For schools which do not register for any one of the Search Associates Recruitment Fairs, there will be an annual "Database Use - No Fair Attended" fee of $200 for access to our online database.

From 1 August 2007 and continuing, each school not yet on the Search Associates database, which applies for registration and is accepted by Search, is required to pay a one-time-only $1000 "Joining Fee" in order to be added to the list of schools actively registered with Search Associates.

Placement Fees

Whenever a candidate is appointed as a result of Search Associates' assistance (and/or clearly involving a Search Fair and/or the Search Associates website database) the school agrees to pay the appropriate placement fee. Should a recruiter visit the web application of any candidate on the Search Associates web site, and should the school subsequently hire that candidate, the school agrees to pay the appropriate placement fee. Should a candidate visit your school vacancy page on the Search Associates website, or learn of an opening at your school through the daily email received from Search Associates, and subsequently contact your school and be hired, the school will abide by all the terms of the payment agreement outlined in this paragraph.

Fees vary by branch and are currently:

  • USA branches: US$1050 for a teacher or intern; US$1800 for an administrator
  • Canada branches: C$1175 for a teacher or intern; C$2100 for an administrator
  • British branch: £ 700 pounds sterling for a teacher or intern; £ 1180 pounds sterling for an administrator. (British branch placement fees reflect UK legal requirements which make it impossible for this branch ever to charge candidate fees for registration or fair participation.)
  • Thailand (IB) branch: £600 pounds sterling for a teacher or intern; £1025 pounds sterling for an administrator
  • Australia/New Zealand branch: AUD$1375 for a teacher or intern; AUD$2350 for an administrator.

These fees apply for appointments made up to 31 August 2009. There will be an increase in the above fees for all placements in the year 2009-2010. The increase will come into effect from 1 September 2009.

Notice

Search Associates will not knowingly provide services to schools which discriminate against candidates on the basis of race, religion, gender, national origin or age. Candidates need to be aware, however, that schools located in certain countries outside the U.S. are bound by national laws or retirement policies which (e.g.) may prohibit foreigners from obtaining work permits after the age of fifty-five or some slightly greater age.
